Monarch Montessori School: Nurturing Children, Supporting Families, Strengthening Community
Located on St. Paul’s East Side, Monarch Montessori School is a nonprofit early childhood program dedicated to providing high quality, Montessori based education to families of all incomes. As a mission driven 501(c)(3), Monarch centers purpose over profit by placing the needs of children first and ensuring learning remains accessible to the community it serves.
Monarch’s approach is rooted in holistic, high quality education. The school prioritizes continuity of care from experienced educators, offering small class sizes for individualized learning, social emotional development, outdoor exploration, and hands on experiences that nurture each child’s natural curiosity and love of learning.
At the heart of Monarch is a connected and caring community. Staff, families, and volunteers work together to create a cozy, nurturing environment where children feel supported and families feel welcomed. For many, Monarch is a trusted homebase, a place of stability, belonging, and high quality early education in a neighborhood facing a severe childcare shortage.
Monarch shared how meaningful the PROMISE Act support was for their work: “The Promise Grant gave us not only essential financial support but also the security to keep serving the families of the Payne/Phalen neighborhood with the stability, consistency, and care they deserve. We are deeply grateful for programs like this that sustain small, community-focused organizations and the children at their heart.”
With support from the MN PROMISE Act grant, Monarch is expanding tuition assistance, strengthening staff benefits, and enhancing Montessori learning materials. These investments help ensure equitable access to early childhood education while sustaining the experienced educators who make Monarch’s warm, vibrant community possible.
